vRA-Lab-06-How to Configure vRealize IaaS Components Baseline (Part 2)

This is part 2 of “Configure vRealize IaaS Components Baseline”. To go to the part 1

2-Prepare your IaaS Windows Server (Manual Installation)

Step 5:  From Server Manager -> Go to “IIS Manager” and complete these steps:

Navigate to the “Default Web Site and open “Authentication”

In Authentication-> Disable “Anonymous Authentication”.

In Authentication-> Enable “Windows Authentication”.

Click on “Windows Authentication” -> click “Advanced Settings

Disable “Enable Kernel-mode” authentication and then click “OK”.

Click on “Windows Authentication” -> click Providers

Click on “Negotiate” and “NTLM” one by one and choose “Remove”. Click “OK”

Now again click on “Windows Authentication” -> click “Advanced Settings

Check “Enable Kernel-mode” authentication and then click “OK”.

Click on “Windows Authentication” -> click Providers

Click on “Negotiate” and “NTLM” one by one and choose “Add”.  Click “OK”

Once done. Close “IIS Manager”.

Step 6: Open “Services” and start the “Secondary Logon” service.

Step 7: Install the 64-bit java client (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) and follow these additional steps:

Navigate to your “System Properties” -> in “Advanced” Tab -> select “Environmental Variables”.

Add a new Variable named “JAVA_HOME” and set the value to the Java install location where your \bin directory is located, which is “C:\Program Files\Java\jre7. Click “Ok” Twice.

Prepare your IaaS Windows Server (Scripted Installation)

Download one from below two scripts on Windows box and run it. It will prepare and configure OS, IIS as per IaaS components requirements. You should go at following URL to download the script.

Before executing scripts make sure following perquisites.

  • Microsoft .NET 4.5 is installed, on Windows 2012 is installed by default on Windows 2008 you have to install it.
  • Download and install all latest OS patches and reboot the windows, if required.
  • Change Powershell execution policy to Unrestricted

Run the PowerShell as administrator and type following command on power shell “Set-ExecutionPolicy” Unrestricted and hit “Y” and enter.

  • Run the script on power shell and restart the machine once.
